What is an end of lease clean, and what's included?
End of lease cleaning (sometimes called bond cleaning or vacate cleaning) is a thorough, top-to-bottom clean of a rental property carried out when tenants move out. The purpose is to return the property to the same clean and presentable condition it was in at the start of the lease, so tenants can get their bond (security deposit) back.
It typically goes beyond a standard house clean and includes things like:
- Deep cleaning kitchens and bathrooms (scrubbing ovens, stovetops, exhaust fans, sinks, showers, tiles, toilets, etc.)
- Wiping and dusting all walls, skirting boards, light fittings, blinds, and cupboards
- Steam-cleaning carpets
- Washing windows, tracks, and flyscreens
- Cleaning floors (vacuuming and mopping throughout)
- Outdoor areas (balconies, patios, garages, or driveways if included in the property)
Real estate agents and property managers generally use a checklist to ensure everything is cleaned to their standard. If areas are missed, they can request the tenant to fix them or deduct costs from the bond.
Do I need to be present during the cleaning?
You don’t have to be there for the entire clean, but we recommend being available at the start to provide access and at the end to do a walk-through if possible. Many clients simply leave the keys with the agent or in a secure location.
Do I need to have already moved out before you clean?
Yes, the property should be completely empty before we begin. This allows us to clean every surface thoroughly and ensures your agent or landlord will be satisfied during their final inspection.
Do you bring your own cleaning products and equipment?
Yes, we supply all professional-grade cleaning products, tools, and machinery needed for the job. Our products are chosen for their effectiveness and safety, ensuring we can deliver exceptional results without causing damage to surfaces.
